Thyon-Les Collons is part of the renowned 'Les4Vallées ski area', which includes popular destinations like Les Masses, Veysonnaz, La Tzoumaz, Nendaz, Siviez, and the famous Verbier. With over 400 km of slopes, it’s the largest ski area in Switzerland, making it a must-visit for ski enthusiasts.

Skiing and Snowboarding at Les4Vallées

This extensive skiing area is ideal for all winter sports lovers. Whether you’re a skier, snowboarder, freestyler, or cross-country skier, you’ll find a variety of trails suited to every level. With a mix of blue, red, and black runs, along with picturesque cross-country trails, there’s something for everyone.

Enjoy authentic Swiss cuisine at traditional piste restaurants, often converted from old cowsheds. Don’t miss **Le Tipi** in Veysonnaz, a lively spot where you can unwind with drinks and music after a day on the slopes.

Family-Friendly Village: Thyon-Les Collons

Thyon-Les Collons offers a serene atmosphere, perfect for families. Instead of crowded après-ski bars, you’ll find cozy restaurants, a wine bar, and a supermarket. Plus, there’s a charming bar with an ice rink, making it an ideal spot for family fun. The area is snow-sure, with fantastic skiing conditions starting as early as mid-November (depending on snow conditions of course)!

The village’s chalets are situated on various terraces, with three parallel roads leading directly to the slopes and four ski lifts. This means winter sports enthusiasts are always close to the action. Surrounded by beautiful pines and larches, Thyon-Les Collons is a true winter wonderland at 1,800 m.

Winter Adventures Beyond Skiing

For non-skiers, hiking is a great option! We enjoy exploring the vast network of trails, with well-marked paths offering varied distances. Each corner reveals stunning scenery, making hiking a rewarding workout. Ski touring is also popular in the area, allowing you to enjoy untouched powder snow without the need for ski lifts.

Experience the thrill of a 'sled dog hike' (chiens à traineaux) in Thyon-Les Collons, a unique adventure for all ages.

Hiking and Nature in Every Season

In the warmer months, Valais is a paradise for hikers and mountain bikers. A highly recommended hike is to the 'Cleuson Dam', reachable in less than an hour from the top of the 'Combatseline lift or after taking the chairlift from Siviez to the place where the Montfort lift is starting.

Another must-see is the 'Grande Dixence Dam', the second highest dam in the world at 285 meters. Located at 2,365 meters, it generates hydropower and creates the stunning 'Lac de Dix'. This challenging five-hour hike is well worth it for the breathtaking views of nature and grazing cows.

Savor Swiss Wines

Did you know that the Canton of Valais accounts for 40% of Switzerland's wine production? This region is home to over 100 kilometers of vineyards along the Rhone River. While I’m not a wine connoisseur, I can confidently say that Valais wines are my favorites, especially with about 300 days of sunshine each year, making it a delightful destination for wine lovers.
